Toothache? We are here for you 7 days a week
Toothache does not follow opening hours. It can begin at night, on a Saturday or in the middle of a holiday weekend – often when most practices are closed. That is exactly why F80 is here: our practice in Berlin Mitte is open 7 days a week. We offer prompt appointments on Saturdays and Sundays too, without hours of waiting in an emergency clinic.
When you should not wait
Not every twinge is an emergency, but some symptoms need prompt dental attention. As a rule, severe, persistent or rapidly worsening symptoms should be examined the same day. An infection spreading through the jaw will not improve on its own, and earlier treatment is often simpler.
Please contact us promptly for these symptoms
- Severe or throbbing toothache that barely improves with pain medication
- Facial swelling or an abscess – especially together with fever
- A knocked-out, loose or broken tooth after an accident
- Renewed bleeding after a tooth extraction or surgery
- A lost filling or crown with pain or sharp edges
- Severe gum inflammation or a taste of pus in the mouth
First aid until you reach us
Cool swelling from the outside with a cold pack wrapped in a cloth – avoid heat, as it can aggravate inflammation. Ibuprofen may provide short-term relief if you can take it; avoid acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), as it can promote bleeding. Never place a painkiller directly on the tooth and never try to open an abscess yourself. Then call us – we will tell you when you can come in.
How quickly you can get an appointment at F80
With acute symptoms, every hour matters. We keep the process as direct as possible, from booking your appointment to relieving your pain:
1. Book an appointment – online, by phone or WhatsApp
2. Diagnosis and prompt pain relief
At the practice, we carefully assess the cause of your symptoms. Digital X-rays help us identify what may be behind the pain. Our first priority is to relieve it promptly, whether through local anesthesia, opening an inflamed tooth, treating a wound or creating an appropriate pain-management plan.
3. Treatment, not only a temporary fix
Unlike many emergency clinics, we do more than treat the symptom. As a fully equipped practice, we can address the cause directly – from root canal treatment and surgical care to a temporary crown. You leave not only with relief, but also with a clear treatment plan.
What about the middle of the night?
First aid for common emergencies
What to do until you are in the dental chair:
For toothache
- Cool, do not warm: Cold packs can ease symptoms; heat and hot-water bottles can worsen inflammation.
- Ibuprofen rather than aspirin: If ibuprofen is suitable for you, it may provide relief; acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) can increase bleeding and complicate later treatment.
- Elevate your head: This can reduce pressure in inflamed tissue, especially at night.
For a knocked-out tooth
- Touch only the crown: Do not touch or clean the root surface.
- Keep it moist: Ideally use a tooth rescue box; alternatively, place it in cold UHT milk.
- Come immediately: The chance of saving the tooth is greatest within the first 30–60 minutes.
For swelling and an abscess
- Cool from the outside: Use cold packs wrapped in a cloth, always with breaks.
- Do not open it yourself: An abscess must be treated by a dentist.
- Act immediately if you have a fever: Fever and difficulty swallowing are warning signs – call us at once.
Your benefits at F80 in Berlin Mitte
F80 was designed from the outset around your life, rather than expecting your life to fit around dentistry. That is why we are here 7 days a week, centrally located on Friedrichstraße, with a team that remains calm even in stressful moments.

You remain in good hands at F80 after the acute situation too. Following a dental injury, we treat the damage and do everything possible to preserve the tooth. If the dental pulp is inflamed, our microscope-assisted root canal treatment can help save it. If a tooth does need to be removed, our oral surgery team provides gentle care, with sedation available on request. Regular Signature Prophylaxis can also reduce the risk of future emergencies.
FAQ: Common questions about acute toothache
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
It is best to call briefly at 030 264 75 131 or book online through Doctolib. This lets us plan for your visit and keep waiting time to a minimum. For severe pain, we can generally offer an appointment the same day.
Are you really open on Sundays?
Yes. F80 is open 7 days a week: Monday to Friday 8 am–8 pm, Saturday 9 am–7 pm and Sunday 10 am–4 pm. On weekends, we are often the first point of contact for Berliners with toothache.
How much does pain treatment cost?
For patients with statutory health insurance, acute pain treatment is covered – simply bring your insurance card. Privately insured patients receive a transparent invoice under the German Fee Schedule for Dentists (GOZ). We always explain any possible additional costs before treatment.
My tooth has been knocked out – how quickly must I come in?
As quickly as possible. The chance of replanting the tooth is best within the first 30 to 60 minutes. Keep it moist in a tooth rescue box or cold UHT milk, touch only the crown and call us immediately.
What should I do about toothache in the middle of the night?
Outside our opening hours, contact the KZV Berlin emergency dental service at 030 89004-333. Berlin has two permanent nighttime emergency locations, including the emergency clinic at Klinikum im Friedrichshain (daily 8 pm–2 am). We will be pleased to continue your treatment the following morning.
Do you accept new patients?
Yes, at any time – including for acute problems. Many of our patients first came to us in pain and decided to stay. Anxious patients are especially welcome.
