DENTAL SECOND OPINION

Ask our specialists for advice on treatment already performed or planned by another dentist.

Our specialists will be pleased to meet with you to discuss treatment that has already been performed or is being planned. They can review X-rays, documents and other materials to provide an independent second opinion.

When is it worth getting a dental second opinion?

An independent second opinion from a dentist is particularly useful when extensive or costly treatment is being considered – for example, dental prostheses, implants, root canal treatment or the removal of several teeth. It can also help if you are unsure whether a proposed treatment and cost plan is truly necessary, or if you would simply like another assessment. A second opinion does not replace treatment by your dentist – it gives you a sound basis for making your own decision.

How a second opinion works at F80

  1. Appointment & documents: Make an appointment and bring any existing documents – your treatment and cost plan, X-rays or reports. If images are missing, we can take them at the practice if needed (digital X-rays, low radiation).
  2. Thorough examination: Our specialists examine your teeth, gums and jaw and compare their findings with the proposed treatment.
  3. Clear assessment: You receive an honest, independent assessment: Which treatment steps are medically appropriate from our perspective, what alternatives are available, and what costs should you expect?

How much does a dental second opinion cost?

We charge for the initial consultation in accordance with the German Fee Schedule for Dentists (GOZ); in many cases, patients with statutory health insurance may be able to have a second opinion covered by their health insurer. Please contact us – before your appointment, we will clearly explain any costs you may incur.

Do I need a referral for a second opinion?

No. You can make an appointment with us directly at any time – online via Doctolib, by phone or via WhatsApp.

Will my dentist be informed about the second opinion?

Only if you want them to be. We will of course treat your enquiry confidentially.

What documents should I bring?
