Precision with light
With our innovative laser technology, the dental specialists at F80 offer you gentle, minimally invasive treatments – even in places that are hard to reach with conventional instruments. The laser works with high-energy light that is directed precisely at the area to be treated. There, the short light pulses of the laser are converted into heat. Thanks to different laser wavelengths, gums, teeth and bone can be cut, removed, smoothed or stimulated precisely – with considerably less pressure and vibration; heat is generated and has to be controlled, as is the case with conventional drills. The advantage: your healthy tissue is spared. The heat also allows the laser to seal blood vessels, which can reduce bleeding and swelling. At the same time, the laser can reduce the number of germs on the treated surface.
Laser treatment for periodontitis
Periodontitis can bring not only painful symptoms such as bleeding gums, bad breath and loose teeth, but also considerable worry about treatment. Especially with advanced periodontitis, many patients wonder whether therapy will be lengthy, unpleasant or stressful. As a complement to periodontal therapy, we use EmunDo laser therapy.
EmunDo is a biocompatible dye that is applied to the teeth and gum pockets and makes harmful bacteria visible. This allows our dentists to use the laser in a targeted way and disinfect the gum pockets. After successful therapy, pocket depths can decrease as healing progresses.

Lasers in oral surgery
In our practice, we also use the laser in a targeted way in oral surgery. When removing tissue such as cysts or benign tumours in the mouth, the laser allows us to work in a minimally invasive way, depending on the procedure with less use of scalpel and sutures. Because blood vessels are sealed at the same time, bleeding can be reduced.
Our dental practice also uses the laser to expose teeth, for example for orthodontic treatment. This allows us to remove impacted teeth and tooth and root fragments precisely, take bone samples and gently smooth sharp bone edges. We also use the laser for surgical corrections of the gums, such as removing excess tissue (gingivectomy).
Laser treatment for peri-implantitis
In rare cases, inflammation of the mucosa and bone around the implant can occur after an implant restoration. Bleeding gums, swelling, redness or even pain are the result. This condition is called peri-implantitis. It is caused by bacteria that settle in the gum pockets around the restoration and attack the tissue and jawbone. At F80 we use laser technology to treat inflamed tissue around dental implants precisely and gently and to remove bacteria and inflamed tissue in a targeted way.
For this, our dental specialists surgically expose the implant if necessary; even with a laser, incisions, pain and soft tissue changes are possible. The aim of treatment is for healthy tissue to surround the implant and the restoration again.

In suitable cases, we can remove smaller areas of decay with the laser. For children and anxious patients, this can be an alternative to the drill in caries treatment. The laser is not suitable for large fillings or very deep decay.
In root canal treatments, the laser has long been part of the standard equipment at F80. We use the laser to thoroughly disinfect the canals of an inflamed root canal system and prepare them for further root canal treatment. The laser also reaches bacteria in deep and hard-to-reach areas where conventional instruments often reach their limits. In this way, we support thorough disinfection.
Alongside cutting lasers we work with a soft laser that removes nothing and barely heats the tissue. For cold sores and for aphthous ulcers we use it to ease pain and support healing. It helps most when the lip is only tingling and nothing is visible yet.

Types of laser
Not every laser is the same. Your dentist uses different types of laser depending on the treatment goal, so that the treatment can be tailored to your situation. F80 uses the following lasers:
In dentistry, hard lasers are specially suited for treating hard tissues such as teeth or bone. Their high-energy light pulses make it possible to remove decay precisely while preserving tooth structure. F80's dentists also use hard lasers for surgical procedures, such as removing tooth roots or shaping bone.
Diode and CO₂ lasers are used mainly for treatments of soft tissue such as gums or mucosa. They are well suited for treating inflammation such as gingivitis, disinfecting root canals or removing excess gum tissue. They are particularly helpful in the treatment of periodontitis or peri-implantitis, as they remove inflamed tissue in a targeted way.
Risks
The dental laser is not suitable for every treatment, for example for large fillings or very deep cavities. Its use is also limited if there are metal implants near the area to be treated. We are happy to clarify with you whether the laser is an option for your treatment.
Costs
The cost of laser treatment depends on its type and scope, including how many teeth are treated and which procedures are required. As laser treatment is generally not a statutory health insurance benefit, statutory insurers usually do not cover it. In special cases, such as urgent procedures, reimbursement may be available to pregnant or breastfeeding patients. Treatment duration
The duration of laser treatment depends on its type and scope. Minor procedures such as removing tooth decay often take less than 30 minutes, while root canal treatment or surgery requires more time.
